ABS Construction Work Done
According to seasonally adjusted estimates in the latest issue of Construction Work Done, Australia, Preliminary, by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, building work done in the September 2003 quarter rose 0.7% to $11,398.2 million, with residential building rising by 1.1% and non-residential building falling by 0.2%. Engineering work done fell 3.5% and total construction work fell 0.8%. (ABS 26/11/03).

National Survey of Building and Construction
Results of the December quarter 2003 National Survey of Building and Construction by Master Builders Australia show that “builders expect activity over the next six months to be less robust than presently”. The survey reveals that labour shortages exist in Queensland, the ACT and NSW, and industrial relations are a major problem in NSW, Victroria and Western Australia. (MBA 1/12/03). More information>>

International design competition for Malta site
An international design competition for the Hagar Qim and Mnajdra Heritage Park in Malta is being launched by the Maltese Ministry for Youth and the Arts.
