Keim® Mineral Paints Originated in Bavaria over 115 years ago and is now used extensively throughout the world. In technical terms, it is a liquid silicate paint combining a potassium silicate binder with inorganic fillers and natural earth oxide colour pigments to produce a paint which penetrates into the substrate forming a chemical crystalline bond with it to become an integral part of the surface. This ensures an extremely longlife, colourfast, protective finish which eliminates the need for regular re-decoration. And today's Keim® paints are still based on the original concept. Over the years the range has been extended with additional products to enhance the system. |
| CHARACTERISTICS Keim® Mineral Paints are fully compatible with all forms of mineral substrate. The inherent alkaline nature of Keim® Mineral Paints ensures they are mould and algae resistant. Keim® paints are also pollution resistant, low maintenance, longlife, breathable, incombustible, natural, and have lightfast colours. |

PRODUCT RANGE |
| GRANITAL Keim® Granital is a silicate based masonry paint system with natural inorganic fillers offering a solid opaque matt finish. It is suitable for all forms of external mineral substrates such as render, concrete, brickwork, blockwork, asbestos cement, plaster and stone. CONCRETAL The Keim® Concretal System comprises concrete repair, decoration and protection materials all of which are mineral based. The cementitious repair system is suitable for use on all forms of concrete structures. |
ECOSIL Keim® Ecosil is a water borne silicate based internal paint system using inorganic fillers and pigments. It is suitable for both unpainted and painted substrates, and provides a dense opaque matt finish that is available in a wide range of pastel shades. ROYALAN Keim® Royalan Paints are a further development of Keim® Mineral Paints, designed to meet the demands of extreme climatic conditions. They can be applied on all mineral surfaces by brush, roller or airless-spraying. |

PETRIFICATION The principal of silicate paints is their petrification with the substrate. The result is a solid mineral and insoluble compound of paint and substrate (render, concrete, natural stone etc.) The cross section through the render shows this petrification which is also termed silification. To make it visible Keim®-Fixativ (liquid potassium silicate) was pigmented. |
| LONGLIFE The Keim® silicate paint system penetrates the mineral substrate onto which it is applied and forms a chemical micro crystalline bond with it, unlike film forming paints that merely form a surface skin. This crystallisation process forms insoluble silicates that are highly resistant to acid and alkali attack and is the basis of THE PROVEN LONGEVITY of Keim® Mineral Paints. |
