The company’s purpose built factory and R&D office are both close to the Melbourne CBD and shipping port. Lockshop Industries is a wholly Australian owned company. All products sold under the Austral Lock mark are manufactured in Australia by Austral Lock. Manufacturing Facilities:- Processing and Assembly Over 260 meters of semi-automated conveyor span our Brooklyn plants. Components are carried from die casting through assembly to chromating to powder coating and finally to packing. Pressure Die Casting Ten die casting machines and many metal presses, provide Austral Lock with the capacity to produce a high volume of products. All products are tooled and jigged in house by Austral Lock ensuring a smooth transition from design to manufacture. Powder Coating Pre-Treatment Coating includes In-line Chromate Pre-treatment to prepare zinc diecastings for powder coating to provide improved finish and resistance to corrosion. Dedicated Machinery In-house processes include: gang key cutting, barrel broaching, pressing, stamping, forming, swaging, rumbling, shot blasting, riveting and padlock body machining. ISO 9002 NATA Certified The Austral Lock plant has been operating for two years under ISO 9002 procedures under certification #7961-1 of July 2000. Design with Leading Technology CAD Computer-Aided Design The latest in Solid/Surface/Wireframe CAD modelling software to design and manufacture door and window hardware. CAM Computer Aided Machining Austral Lock employs in-house CAM to link our design computers and machine tools. This enables die casting moulds and prototypes to be machined with accuracy without limiting the form of the products. Rapid Prototyping A fully dedicated R&D workshop with 3-Axis CNC machining, prototype casting, wire cutting, and test rigs. EDM Electric Discharge Machining Electric Discharge Machining to create precision moulds and to perform in-house maintenance.
