Whatever style chosen, you can be confident that the result
will transform the look of your home superbly - one room or your entire
house!
With the specialised experience that comes
through milling Western Red Cedar over three decades, Timbeck's craftsmen
know precisely how to get the very best out of this stunning timber. They handle
it with the sensitivity and respect one of the world's finest building
materials deserves.
What makes Timbeck Western Red Cedar so
special? Light in weight and soft in texture, it is a highly stable wood
that seasons easily and quickly with a low-shrinkage factor. Cedar's low density
means it has outstanding resistance to warping and twisting - factors
especially important in the case of skirting and architraves.
Timbeck machines and planes its Western Red Cedar to a smooth finish
that is rich and lustrous. The wood is particularly easy to cut or spilt
along the grain, hence its popular use not only for mouldings and
architraves, but for wall and ceiling linings
too.
As a wall or ceiling
lining, Timbeck Western Red Cedar panelling is in a class of its own. The high
grade Cedar - a proud trademark of Beck Timber -
is free of unsightly knots and imperfections so that your panelling becomes
a superb backdrop to your décor and furnishings. Importantly, maintenance is
minimal.
Freedom from pitch and resin gives Timbeck Western Red Cedar
superb finishing properties. It is an ideal base for a variety of finishes,
either full-bodied paints and stains, or semi transparent products that reveal
the wood's warm colour and texture. Timbeck Western Red
Cedar can be glued securely, and can of course be nailed without splitting.
Nature has made Western Red Cedar one of the most attractive
woods available. The narrow sapwood is a soft, light straw colour, while the
heartwood is a blend of earth tones, ranging from pale yellow through to
reddish pink and even chocolate brown.
Timbeck Western Red Cedar is the
first choice of builders and home makers in exterior weatherboards, and it's
easy to see why. The timber actually has built-in weather resistance. The fibres
of the wood contain natural oils that act as a preservative, making it
resistant to both decay and attack by most insects. It can be stained,
painted or left to weather naturally - in which case it mellows to a soft,
silver-grey shade.
Western Red Cedar possesses the unusual quality of
harmonising with - and enhancing - any architectural concept, structure or
decorating style. It can be rustic or dramatically avant-garde.
But whatever its role, Cedar never fails to capture the
imagination! |
