Forbo Flooring - vinyls, sustainable linoleums and more L R: Angus Fotheringhame, Forbo's new MD for Australia; Richard Pemberton, Group Executive Vice President, Forbo International Switzerland; Irving Benton customer services operator and longest-serving Forbo employee in Australia; Brian Paterson Managing Director Forbo-Nairn Ltd, UK and Derek Byrne, outgoing Forbo MD. Change is good, they say, and the folks at Forbo Flooring certainly have a fistful of changes to crow about! Over the last few years Forbo has seen major growth for its high quality cushioned vinyls, sustainable linoleums and project vinyl flooring products in both the domestic and commercial markets. With a number of exciting new products and releases planned to join its flooring portfolio, a new location for the growing company was a natural progression. Change number one is the move to new offices with a modern warehouse, shared with sister company Forbo Seigling, at Wetherill Park in New South Wales. The warehouse allows for increased roll stocking capacity and a new cutting machine to respond to higher demands in cut lengths. Change number two is a new moniker. Formerly known as Forbo Linoleum, the company has been renamed Forbo Flooring, to more accurately represent the breadth of its flooring portfolio. Still world leader in linoleum, Forbo Flooring in addition to their Marmoleum® and Artoleum® brands, manufactures and supplies high quality vinyl flooring from around the globe including brands such as ETERNAL, STEP and Smaragd. The appointment of Angus Fotheringhame as new managing director, is change number three! Angus, a Scot, brings to the role a wealth of hands-on knowledge gained from his international experience within the Forbo Group. In attendance to help open the new building and to send off former m.d. Derek Byrne, were Richard Pemberton, Group Executive Vice President, Forbo International Switzerland and Brian Paterson, Managing Director Forbo-Nairn Ltd, UK. Leading the international team in the ribbon cutting ceremony was Forbo's longest-serving employee in Australia - Irving Benton, who has seen 45 years of change with the same company! After migrating from the UK as a 'ten pound Pom', Irving commenced work at the original company, Michael Nairn & Co (Aust) Ltd, in April 1958 as a weighbridge attendant and stores clerk on a weekly wage of just over 17 pounds, equivalent to about $35 today. With such a history and experience with the company, Irving is, of course, an important member of the Forbo team and is currently at the heart of the customer service team. Forbo's new customer service phone number is 02 9828 0201 whilst the 1800 22 44 71 remains the same for callers outside the Sydney metro area.
