Carter Holt Harvey Woodlogic - protection against termites

Termites spark fear into the hearts of average Australian homeowners, and with recent Archicentre research** showing the pest causes an estimated annual damage bill in the vicinity of $780 million to Australian homes annually, there is little wonder why.

The banning of organochlorins more than a decade ago has paved the way for the development of smarter and more environmentally friendly ways of protecting timber and timber products from pesky insects like termites.

Leading this advance is key timber industry player, woodlogic, the building product business of Carter Holt Harvey, launching a new generation, highly affordable, termite resistant H2 structural framing product called Framesure® Blue™.

The plantation grown radiata-framing pine is specially treated to guard it against termites, ensuring durability and longevity. Envelope treated with insecticides to make the pine unpalatable to termites, Framesure Blue is 'termite resistant' structural framing pine, suitable for use in construction south of the Tropic of Capricorn.

The concept of termite treated timber is not new, however, woodlogic is an industry pioneer, introducing Framesure® LOSP (light organic solvent preservative) framing timber to the market some three years ago. Now, with the launch of Framesure Blue - woodlogic's first envelope treated structural framing timber - the company is making termite resistant timber an affordable choice for all.

Says woodlogic's marketing manager, Nick Stabback, "Framesure Blue is the latest in woodlogic's termite treated product range, joining previously released products like TermiFlor®- a termite resistant particleboard flooring - to provide Australians with affordable solutions designed to combat the potential devastation termites can cause. We have further products in development, but Framesure Blue is significant as it is an extremely cost efficient termite resistant framing product.

"Framesure Blue is safe to handle, the active ingredients are biodegradable and therefore it is environmentally sound," he said.
