Schindler's Miconic 10 lift system control - One Shelley Street, Sydney

As far as iconic buildings are concerned, One Shelley Street is set to
become one of the most recognisable commercial premises in Sydney. The development by
Multiplex consists of 33,000 square metre's of office space over 11 stories and will
feature a unique 'diagrid' support façade.
The $350 million development will be a state-of-the-art building employing cutting edge
technologies throughout. In line with this, Schindler has been selected to supply all of
the lifts and escalators including 12 x 5400 MRL passenger lifts, 1 x 2600 freight lift
and 2 x 9300 AE escalators. The building will also feature the Schindler Miconic 10
destination control system.
Schindler Miconic 10 is quite different from traditional lift systems. The passenger selects
their floor on the ergonomically designed landing station and an LCD display notifies them
which lift they should go to in order to reach their desired floor with the least amount of
stops in between. This is ideal for managing morning, lunch and afternoon periods where
passenger traffic is at its peak.
"'We are creating a work environment like no other. There will be more than 3,000 staff
working in One Shelley Street and their mobility is paramount. We're confident that the
Schindler solution will help us achieve this" said Tina Tang, Project Director, Multiplex
Developments Australia.
Schindler are an important part of the project team, which has ensured One Shelley Street
will be the latest example of Multiplex's continued ability to develop commercial projects
which set new benchmarks for design, not only in terms of visual appeal, but in workplace
functionality and environmental sustainability," she added.
The One Shelley Street project will be the second Schindler Miconic 10 project for Multiplex
on King Street Wharf, the first being the American Express building (due for completion by
the end of 2007).
"We are proud to be involved with such a prestigious project. The Schindler Miconic 10 has
proven time after time that it is the most efficient lift destination control system for
large commercial buildings. This is as a result of our commitment to research and development
and it embodies one of our core brand values 'mobility'" said Fernando Xavier, Managing
Director Schindler Lifts Australia.
One Shelley Street is scheduled for completion by early 2009.
