Viridian amalgamation of Polkington Australasia

Viridian™ is the amalgamation of Pilkington Australasia, acquired by CSR Limited in June 2007, and DMS Glass, acquired in September 2007. Please see www.csr.com.au/investorcentre/news_releases.asp for further details. Employs approximately 2,200 people across Australia and New Zealand.

3 glass manufacturing facilities, all in Australia:

• Dandenong (Vic) - Float line with 120,000t capacity (will be 165,000t in FY2009).
• Ingleburn (NSW) - Float line with 105,000t capacity.
• Alexandria (NSW) - Rolled line with 27,000t capacity.

~215,000 tonnes of float and rolled glass are produced for the Australian market, ~18,000 for the NZ market, with the remainder going to other exports and automotive. 33 value-added distribution sites: 24 in Australia and 9 in New Zealand.

End markets include glass distributors, window fabricators, shower screen and furniture manufacturers, balustrade and partitioning system fabricators and installers, solar panel manufacturers and glaziers.

Dandenong upgrade expected to be completed in FY2009;

• New raw material batch plant will be increased in capacity.
• Furnace upgrade increasing plant capacity from ~120,000t to ~165,000t.
• High-performance Chemical Vapour Deposition ("CVD") coater to produce energy-efficient "low-e" glass (CSR will be sole manufacturer of CVD coated float glass in southern hemisphere).
• CSR investment is ~$120m, which includes a grant from the Victorian Government for the installation of the CVD coater.

Growth drivers for glass include;

• Increased use of architectural glass in residential and non-residential construction, particularly safety glass systems.
• Increased use of energy-efficient glass.
• Increased productivity, utilisation and efficiency as a result of investment in assets.
