WE-EF Lighting debuts a totally new and revolutionary concept in LED technology
designed and built specifically for Urban Lighting applications. OLC® stands for 'One LED Concept',
this breakthrough technology harnesses the full power of the latest high output LEDs.
OLC® What is It?
Conventional LED street lights rely on the so called 'multi-spot' technique, this means aiming of
individual LEDs to realise the required distribution; so what happens when an LED fails? Answer a
black hole!
OLC® is a 'multi-layer' technique. This means that every LED distributes the light in exactly the
same way, which secures the distribution of light for the life of the installation.
At the heart of this technology is a ground breaking lens, we call our "butterfly lens." Each
LED is fitted with a butterfly so that each LED does precisely the same job. This creates a
'multi-layer' effect, which we call our 'One LED Concept' OLC®. Multiple LEDs are mounted on
removable heat sink modules; these modules are easily replaceable for upgradeability and will be
recycled by WE-EF.
OLC® How is It Delivered?
The new RFL500 Series luminaire has been developed expressly for LEDs. There are two body sizes and
four wattages; thermal management is the key to successful LED performance and this luminaire provides
extraordinary heat dissipation. Does this mean there is a potential problem in sunny climates? No! To
protect the LEDs against overheating, say during undesired daytime operation, the control circuit
incorporates an over-temperature sensor.
