Following the Thredbo landslip a significant portion of the Alpine Way above Thredbo village had to be reconstructed and improved. This work included
the construction of a series of massive gabion and Terramesh structures both above and below the Alpine Way. These walls varied in height from 1-8m.
Approximately 12,000cu.m or 24,000 tonne of gabions were installed during the summers of 1998-2001. The initial work was completed by crews from Terra
Services a company which was subsequently taken over by Earthtec in July 2000.
The experience gained during the previous works engaged to continue with further sections of gabion construction making this the fourth summer in
Thredbo for some of our personnel.
Earthtec Constructions Pty Limited (ECPL) was established to provide specialist design and construction services to the Civil Engineering construction
industry in relation to Gabions, Reno Mattress, Rockfall Protection, Block Walls, Crib Walls and related works.
