Maxim Louvres Pty Ltd is an Australian manufacturer specialising in the manufacture of exterior and interior louvre blinds and screens. Our
product base is further enhanced by our ability to custom manufacture products to suit the unique requirements of many projects.
Our involvement in the blind industry commenced in 1982 as the Australian manufacturer and distributor for a UK based product known as Sunshield which won a British Design
Award for its unique non-retractable though adjustable louvre blinds. The design allows the blinds to be fitted at any angle and on any shaped window: arches, pyramids,
triangles, circles and even as a ceiling, curved or flat.
Our first major project in Australia was the manufacture of the Sunshield 88 dim-out louvre blinds for the pyramid shaped ceiling above the Senate Chamber in Parliament
House, Canberra.
During the 1980's we introduced retractable louvre blinds with the same 80mm louvre as used on the Sunshield 80 adjustable blinds. These two products were effectively
combined on the Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour in Sydney. The Sunshield 80 blinds were used on the curved ceiling of the five entrance halls (as pictured) and the
80mm retractable blinds (now called Sunshield R80) were used in the five exhibition halls. All the blinds were automatically controlled by sun sensors.
In the mid 1990's we added to the range the Sunshield R72 retractable louvre blinds with the revolutionary shaped louvre, 72mm wide, offering superior wind stability and
light block-out over conventional "C" curve louvres. In more recent years we have further added to the range several fixed and adjustable extruded aluminium louvres,
elliptical louvre fins and cedar louvre blinds both retractable and adjustable.
