Architectural membranes from MakMax Australia at the Moet & Chandon Marquee

Designed by PTW Architects and Taiyo Membrane Corporation, this architectural installation transformed an off the shelf 10 x 10m marquee into a striking, atmospheric event space inspired by the formation and structure of champagne bubbles.

A bespoke stretched membrane structure was created using state-of-the-art technology and materials. The outer membrane roof of the marquee structure was a separate piece of white PVC perforated with a digitally-cut pattern of bubbles.

An inner, tensioned layer of nylon Lycra fabric was engineered and installed by Taiyo Membrane Corporation, manufactured directly from the computer model. This curved skin caught the changing patterns of natural light penetrating through the outer roof, diffusing it and creating an atmospheric, dappled glow.

The marquee was set up and based in Melbourne, Victoria Australia.
