Fibreglass Wall and Ceiling Linings from Dynamic Composite Technologies

Lucas Quality Meats
Bronte, Sydney
Lucas Quality Meats supplies pork, hams and bacons products to local Area Health Services, hospitals, large restaurants, Nursing Homes and the like. For over 30 years their Cool Room walls and ceiling panels have undergone the rigours of bacon curing/salting/smoking, pallet damage and over time to stay commercially viable, and regulated, a number of wall surface treatments have been applied to bring their facility up to food regulations of the day.
About two years ago a major preventative
maintenance program was undertaken,
applying a reputable company's wall cladding
system. Unfortunately the wall and ceiling
cladding is now bowing and drooping (as shown
in the first two photos above), becoming
unsightly and bringing the company under the
microscope of food inspection authorities.
United Installation & Repair is in the
process of removing the old cladding system,
cleaning up the old worn surfaces, treating rust
areas, and cutting and manipulating the sheets
of Kemlite® Glasbord® around ceiling and wall
protuberances into position and securing them to
the walls and ceilings with an odourless high
grab adhesive.
The results so far have transformed an old
looking facility into one that is brighter, sanitary,
stain resistant, high impact and abrasion
resistance and most importantly a safer
environment to work in. Kemlite® Glasbord®
is a fibreglass wall and ceiling internal cladding
system, available in sheets up to 3.05 meter by
1.22m in nominal thicknesses or 1.9mm or
2.3mm. At point of manufacture the fibreglass/
polyester resin/ microbiological agents and
varying amounts of fire retardants are cast
against either a smooth or embossed tough
thin plastic film called SurfaSeal™. The
Kemlite® Glasbord® then becomes a surface
that will not harbor mould, mildew or bacteria,
becomes highly impact and scratch resistant,
and chemically resistant.
Kemlite® Glasbord® is HACCP certified, meets
AS 4674, AQIS Export Meat Certified for food
processing facilities (capable of repeated 82C
water cleans), and has been tested to Building
Code of Australia's fire test requirements of
AS 3837, attaining Class 1 and Class 3
certification.
