Beat Hot Weather and High MVER with LATICRETE LATAPOXY®

LATAPOXY Moisture Shield by LATICRETE

It is normally this time of the year that we issue high temperature alerts and warn of their effects on tile installation systems. Summer time is also that time of year where external backgrounds or substrates are frequently subjected to the effects of high humidity and inundation in combination with high temperatures.

These conditions can be very problematic when it comes to the installation of moisture sensitive tiles and membranes due to the likely occurrence of wet substrates and high Moisture Vapour Emission Rates (MVER).

In these conditions, when curing membranes are applied over substrates with higher than desirable moisture conditions, they can lock in moisture under the membrane. When this moisture is subsequently heated due to hot site conditions, it can cause vapour bubbles to form under the membrane with the capacity to debond the membrane from the substrate as it is curing. The excessive MVER condition will continue to be problematic unless it is controlled.
