designIT v2 even more squeezed
in
New designIT® v2
uses the same simple system for specifying Hyspan
and Hybeam and the data input you're used to, but
now incorporates options for calculating designs
with stress graded and glue laminated timber and
more complex designs including a range of floor
live loads needed for the design of decks, balconies
and residential apartment buildings. And it's been
updated to include AS 1684.1 design criteria and
the current AS/NZS 1170 - 2002 design requirements.

The designIT v2 software
has been designed in a readily upgradeable format
making online updates quick and easy. With the software
loaded, open up the Help option, and click on Check
for updates. The system will automatically detect
whether you have the latest updates. If not, simply
follow the prompts to install all available updates.

This process is worth
doing on a regular basis to ensure you have the
latest version of designIT.
Since releasing the
original version in September, futurebuild have
already added one additional feature (a floor joist
calculator) and had to make one minor correction.
Both of these updates are available through the
Help option as described above or from the futurebuild
web site.
The latest update to
designIT has just been released. The update includes
easier design of rafter overhangs allowing the user
to modify member section, overhang span and rafter
spacing without the need to redesign the rafter.
Similar functionality has been used to now include
the option to design overhangs for roof beams.
