Architectural Framing Systems Homebush Hotel re-development

AFS recently supplied AFS LOGICWALL to the Homebush Hotel
Re-development in NSW. Consisting of 167 units, 7 shops and 1 hotel and
between 4 and 7 storeys, the project covered a total foot print area of 6800 sqm.
Now in the finishing stages, the project was a success for AFS and highlights
the unique benefits of the AFS LOGICWALL system.
The builder chose to re-design the structure using AFS LOGICWALL instead of
pre-cast concrete panels based on merits of the system testified to by other
builders. This choice enabled 22500 sqm of AFS LOGICWALL to be installed in
just 6 months using only a 60 tonne mobile crane. The panels were delivered
consistently to site 3 to 4 times a week on semi trailers carrying up to 350
sqm of AFS LOGICWALL per load. The crane was used only to lift the pallets of
panels to each floor slab. An average crew of 15 men working on multiple fronts
installed the panels, including placing reo in the walls, fitting metal door
frames, core filling the panels with concrete and preparing them for applied finishes.
The AFS LOGICWALL system was used for all the load bearing walls in the project
including 162mm party walls, 150mm corridor walls, external facades and blades and
200mm lift and stair shafts.
The benefits of AFS LOGICWALL shone on this project. Materials handling was
reduced significantly, with the majority of panels being installed by hand rather
than crane. Labour on site was also reduced significantly with as little as 15 men
on average installing 22500 sqm of wall. The speed of the system was realised with
the structure being complete in 6 months and there were major reductions in waste
removal. The fibre cement finish of AFS LOGICWALL provided a suitable substrate
for applied finishes externally and internally without the need of lining the
walls with plasterboard or cladding systems.
The overall result was another impressive AFS LOGICWALL project with a satisfied
builder willing to use the system again on future developments.
