Commercial projects don't come much bigger than a series of developments spread over 30 acres at Breakfast Point, 10kms west of Sydney CBD. The first 10 storeys were concrete and steel, but the massive roof was almost completely prefabricated in timber.

"Occasionally we had to factor in some minor adjustments, but having access to MiTek's 20/20 program on-site and especially the VersaTruss feature, enabled us to recalculate walk-throughs and alter web placements, without compromising engineering integrity, accordingly," assured Stephen Hayne, Technical Manager with (licensed MiTek fabricator), Belmont Timber.

Advances in timber engineering over the past few years mean s you can do just about anything with timber now and it's a lot more cost-effective than steel," added Cameron.
