DesignBUILD reveals Industry Insights program
and announces inaugural Sustainability Day

The DesignBUILD 2014 Industry Insights seminar program is now finalised with a tailored and diverse portfolio of presenters from industry associations, leading businesses and regulatory bodies set to inform, educate and inspire industry trades and professionals.

19 speakers will host Industry Insight sessions over 3 at DesignBUILD, which opens at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on 2 - 4 April, 2014.

Exhibition Manager Ali Mead said day two of DesignBUILD would be a dedicated Sustainability Day, reflected through an educational program supported by key industry leaders.

"Sustainability as a concept is constantly evolving as market leaders invest in research and development to produce more energy efficient outcomes, from the end consumer product to the manufacturing process.

"Staying ahead of trends is particularly important when it comes to best sustainable building products and practices, yet it can be very tricky to source ideas and inspiration independently, especially when you are busy with everyday operations and projects," she said.

Ms Mead added that it is one thing to see a new product, idea or application in a brochure, online or in a magazine as a static opportunity but another experience entirely to see the reality and hear straight from the experts.

"There's nothing like walking through the built reality of products you've browsed online - seeing how they come together and hearing successful case studies from the experts to help generate more beneficial environmental and financial outcomes.

"DesignBUILD remains the largest business platform to see, source, compare and cost the markets new product innovations, suppliers and heads of top local and international building companies." she said.

Sustainability Day on Thursday 3 April will feature:

- Presentation and discussion on the future of, and ways to further sustainable building best practice by the Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA), Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB), Building Designers Association of Victoria (BDAV)

- Integrative Panel Discussion facilitated by Cameron Rosen of Australian Living. Panel members include representatives from Australian Forestry Standards, Good Environmental Choice Australia, Green Building Council of Australia, Global GreenTag

- Evening address at Project Next at 5:30pm. Cameron Rosen from Australian Living will speak about the practical application of the sustainable products presented on the stand. He will also offer a 'lessons learnt' account of his experience in building for environmental sustainability. Attendees will receive a complimentary refreshment during the presentation.
