DesignBUILD 2014 gives visitors a voice with a dedicated Panel Discussion

The world of certification for sustainable building will be unraveled on 3 April at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre during DesignBUILD's Panel Discussion, facilitated by Cameron Rosen of Australian Living.

For the first time at DesignBUILD, visitors are invited to engage with session speakers to drive discussion around criteria for design, construction and building companies to be eligible for Green Star and other sustainability certifications.

Sustainable building experts from Green Building Council of Australia, Good Environmental Choice Australia, Australian Forestry Standards, Forestry Stewardship Council and Global GreenTag make up the panel - bringing together more than 60 years of industry knowledge to the session.

Learning how to navigate through grueling certification requirements before beginning a sustainable building project will be central to the conversation driven by the Panel and the audience.

"The use of space, spatial differentiation, conditional requirements and timing of certification are all topics that will offer clear pathways for audience members that are about to embark on a sustainable project," says Exhibition Manager Ali Mead.

"The Panel Discussion is an important live format forum for experts to engage with trade, and audience members. It's a reciprocal learning session for our associations to hear from those heading up real sustainable building projects happening across Australia and a valuable Q & A for audience members to flesh out issues they are experiencing around eligibility for certification and accreditation."

This is an open and interactive forum to voice questions, concerns and ideas, and share case studies and inspiration - we're calling on builders and architects to be a part of the conversation to drive more environmentally sustainable projects.

The DesignBUILD Panel Discussion on the 'World of Certification' takes place on Thursday 3 April at 4:15pm.
