The new Hydro Transport pump is released by the Engineered Products Group
A new Hydro Transport (Food) Pump has been released by Cornell to cater for the transportation of large volumes of
food products. The new 12 NHPP "Food" Pumps are extremely efficient and will transport whole food products (even live fish) with
minimal damage.
It is the largest in Cornell's series of Hydro Transportation Pumps and has a 300 mm suction and discharge and capable of flows to
400 litres per second, enabling it to transport upwards of 4,500 kg of food products per minute. Many companies have been relying on
Cornell food handling pumps, including household names such as McCains, Simplot, Smith's Snackfoods and Golden Circle. They use Cornell
Hydro Transport Pumps to minimise damage whilst transporting large volumes of raw and partially cooked food such as potatoes and
vegetables, beans, asparagus, corn, carrots, all types of fruit and even live trout, prawns and crayfish.
Cornell's patented volute design allows products to pass through the centre of the discharge nozzle without contacting the inner-wall
of the volute. The large single port Impeller (capable of passing a 350 mm x 220 mm solid) and having no "cut-water" all aid in the
"stress-free" transportation. The pump is available with food grade packed gland sealing arrangement or with Cornell's patented
Cyclo-seal. The cyclo-seal configuration requires no external flush, which is ideal for eliminating water usage. The cyclo-seal uses
stationary "protrusions" cast into the pump back-plate in conjunction with contoured Impeller back-vanes and a dished back-plate to
create pressure gradients that move solids away from the seal faces. This design greatly improves seal life. Standard materials
constructions include cast iron but other materials of construction are available as an option for abrasive or caustic applications.
