If you want the latest in surface water drainage, look at Reln's innovative Uni-Pits
The fastest, easiest pits to install...
If there's an easier, faster and therefore more efficient way of running your business, you'd want to know about it. In the last few years,
multi award winning and quality-endorsed Australian manufacturer Reln Pty Ltd, has been refining an innovative surface water drainage system
called Uni-Pit.
Conventional 'box' shaped concrete in-ground pits require large scale excavation, then cutting and fixing the stormwater line into both sides
of the pit. This is both time-consuming and expensive.
In comparison, Reln's Uni-Pits are quick and easy to install. Available in three sizes – to suit different drainage applications – Uni-Pit is
a relatively shallow pit, designed to fit directly into the storm water line with PVC glue (rather than the stormwater line passing through
the pit). There is also no need for risers as the vertical pipe can be cut to the required length.
"Designed and built in Australia, out Uni-Pits 200, 300 and 450 are interchangeable in the same drain line," said Mr John Kelley, Reln's
General Manager Marketing, "Depending on the site requirements, a combination of the same or varying sizes of Uni-Pits can be used."
UNI-PIT 200
Developed for domestic use in areas requiring the collection and distribution of surface water, Uni-Pit 200 is ideal for gardens, courtyards,
patios, pathways, around swimming pools and other landscaped areas. At 225 x 225mm, it is compatible with 230mm pavers, and glue fits to 90mm
or 100mm uPVC pipe. Like all Reln;s Uni-Pits, Uni-Pit 200 features an in-built anti-tamper device for extra security and to prevent grate
bounce. Uni-Pit 200's grates are available in a range of finishes (black plastic, flush silver, sandstone and terracotta) to blend in with
paver colours.
UNI-PIT 300
Uni-Pit 300 is slightly larger at 334 x 334mm, and suitable for both domestic and commercial applications. It is ideal for the collection and
distribution of surface water along driveways with light traffic, gardens, courtyards, patios, public pathways, around swimming pools and
landscaped areas.
A ClassA-10kN galvanised steel grate is available for light traffic areas, as well as flush aluminium grates in silver, green, terracotta
and sandstone. Uni-Pit 300 glue fits to 90mm or 100mm uPVC pipe.
UNI-PIT 450
Ideal for commercial surface water drainage, the new, larger Uni-Pit 450 (567x567mm) is designed for driveways, car parks and other commercial
areas, and taps directly into the storm water line. Class A and Class B grates are available, and a built –in anti-tamper feature on steel
grates for light traffic up to 1000kg.
Being a bigger pit, the Uni-Pit 450's spigot is sized for and glue fits to 150mm uPVC stormwater pipe for faster drainage. Because
polypropylene in the pit base cannot be glued to uPVC, the Uni-Pit spigot is moulded in ABS (which can adhere to uPVC). "Our customers get
a single, leak –free product that can be joined to the upstanding drainage pipe with PVC glue," said John.
VORTEX DESIGN A WORLD-FIRST INNOVATION
According to John Kelley, Reln's relentless pursuit of innovation is reflected in the base of the Uni-Pits, which feature a world-first, "The
pit base, made of tough, impact-resistant polypropylene, features our innovative VORTEX design," Said John. "Moulded into the base of the pit
the VORTEX pattern accelerates water flow and does away with the need for a conventional holding pit which retains a quantity of water while
allowing run-off through stormwater pipes.
"Our pits are also environmentally friendly – to minimise leaf blockage, a swirl waste grate is built into the Uni-Pit. This means less
pollution of our waterways as plastic grocery bags, twigs, leaves and cigarette butts are unable to make their way into the stormwater system.
The design also prevents water pooling inside, so mosquitos cant breed in the pit – a common problem with conventional 'box' pits, and a
serious health issue in many areas."
