Potential builders can no longer rely upon experience alone to obtains a licence under new regulations effective last month. The big
players in the construction industry got together last week to jointly press governments on industry issues such as skills training, taxation and infra-
structure - Australian Constructors Association, HIA and Australian Industry Group. government asks for comment on licensing system for construction
industry including proposed new multi-story licence.

The Consumer Trade & Tenancy Tribunal is the exclusive forum for residential building disputes in NSW up to a limit of $5000,000 + any counterclaim.
But at the end of March a statuary review of the Tribunal has recommended that the Tribunal be limited to building matters up to $60,000 only. When
implemented these recommnedations will have a big influence on the domestic construction industry in this state.
