The objective of the Platform Lift company is to help restore the dignity of disabled people.
That aim is being met with a unique portable pool lift, which allows a disabled person to be carried from the changing room to the pool edge, and then lowered into the water easily and safely.
The lift, called Bluone, is by Italian company Digi Project. Platform Lift Company is supplying the pre-built lift across Australia's eastern seaboard.
"This new compact lift is restoring DIGNITY to disabled people, it is allowing them to get in and out of water easily we find the elderly love the simplicity of it. said Platform Lift Company's Kent Phillips.
"This is the perfect disabled lift for pool areas in hotels, resorts, retirement villages, gyms and all council pools. Not to mention domestic pools.
"The lift is portable and can be easily stored. It can lift up to 130kg.
Platform Lift Company's success with the portable Bluone pool lift is evident in that Brisbane City Council has installed three portable lifts in its pools Brisbane Aquatic Centre acacia ridge, Bellbowrie and Wickham Terrace Valley - with five more planned this season.
"Brisbane City Council will replace every pool to a portable lift as pools are upgraded," said Mr Phillips. "Gold Coast City Council has indicated it will consider portable pool lifts with the $42,000,000 2018 Commonwealth Games upgrade of the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre in Southport."
Platform Lift Company has installed the portable pool lift in NSW at Narrabri Shire Council's Narrabri Memorial Swimming Pool and Moree Plains Shire Council's Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre; and also in Queensland at Paroo Shire Council's Cunnamulla Swimming Pool.
Platform Lift Company, a leading supplier, installer and maintainer of wheelchair disability and mobility access lifts, commercial elevators and residential lifts, is also in talks to supply the portable pool lift to South Australia and Victoria.
Mr Philips said it was also possible for the Bluone marine hoists to be fitted on a yacht or cruiser. Giving the disabled person access to the ocean.
