Civic Architects, an architecture and arts practice concerned with community-led design projects, have recently led the design of two sibling sculptures for Kilsyth Health Centre, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

The design of the two sculptures draws on the theme of individuality by creating two vertical totems - one in each of two external courtyards. The overlapping panels were fabricated from Perspex® acrylic sheet. With colour at the very heart of the Perspex® brand, designers and architects are able to fully express their creativity.

An assortment of Perspex® Solid, Translucent and Transparent colours were chosen by Civic Architects as they explain, "the colours mimic the coded, specific patterns of our DNA profiles as individuals within a community."

CAD drawings designed by Civic Architects provided fabricators QD Plastics with a variety of messages to be CNC cut into the materials linking the sculpture to local places and thoughts. The vertical structures relate to the architecture of the courtyards and encourage visitors to look into the sky for contemplation and reflect our changing emotions.
