Designbuild focus on green building in Australia

This year's Designbuild will be a landmark event for the Australian building and design industries, when it is held in Sydney 3rd - 6th June, according to organisers Diversified Exhibitions Australia. In 2007 Designbuild will not only be the largest trade-only building and design industries show ever held in Sydney, it will also be the most eco-friendly with a major focus on sustainability and green building.

Designbuild 07 will champion the green building cause by providing the knowledge at ecologically sustainable seminars and inspiration in a Green Building Zone featuring the latest in green building products.

Some examples of the new products in the Green Building Zone include:
Glosswood is a Western Australian based company specialising in environmentally sound pre-finished timber products. Glosswood boards are manufactured from Paulowina, a renewable plantation hardwood with a beautiful straight grain that is light, strong, dimensionally stable and unattractive to termites. Glosswood uses an innovative, unique UV production process that stains and coats the boards on all four sides, giving a resilient, professional finish. Cost effective and eco-friendly, the range won the Product Innovation Award at the 2006 HIA-ANZ WA Housing Awards.

DTB International Plumbing is releasing their Rain-return water collection system. The system enables a building to collect 100% of its total rain catchment area. The system consists of a pre-packaged pump pit, DIY install pump controller and storage tank level control.

And to show that Green Building doesn't mean boring, Urimat is showing, for the first time in Australia, their waterless urinal that uses neither water nor chemicals and is the world's only urinal with a TV screen. Urimat have recently been awarded The Waterwise Marque. This is awarded annually in the UK to products that reduce the waste of water and encourage awareness of water efficiency.

Supporting the focus on Green Building products there will also be a comprehensive education program where Designbuild, in conjunction with the Green Building Council, the Australian Architecture Association and BCI Australia, will have leading-edge Australian and international practitioners of environmentally sustainable architecture, design, building and construction presenting at the 2007 Designbuild Green Building Seminar program, according to Exhibition Director, Bill Hare.
