Helioscreen external sunscreens powered by Somfy

When leading Sydney architects PTW Architects were looking to give
the finest in automated external solar protection systems to their design for the
iconic Darling Island Apartments development, they chose Helioscreen external
sunscreens powered by Somfy.
The development by Multiplex Living features three buildings with expansive views
from Jones Bay, past the Harbour Bridge and around to the CBD and Darling Harbour.
By utilizing Helioscreen Basketweave fabric and stainless steel wire guides, the
designers have ensured that none of the view is lost, while still giving protection
from 85% of the sun's damaging UV radiation.
The anodized aluminium head boxes and base rails match perfectly with the zinc
cladding of the buildings, recalling the historic Sydney cargo wharves of the area.
To ensure "touch of a button" operation, stylish Somfy Telis four-channel remote
controls operate the Somfy Altus RTS motors secreted away in the Helioscreen head
boxes. Offering whisper-quiet operation, the motors elegantly raise the Helioscreen
external sunscreens to reveal the breath- taking views. Individual occupants have
the ability to raise, lower and stop their sunscreens in any position to allow natural
light into their apartments and control glare and heat.
To give peace of mind, the motors are all linked back to automated Somfy wind sensors
that retract the sunscreens in excessively windy conditions. Somfy's world-leading
RTS radio technology ensured that the installation was quick and easy, with a minimum
of wiring required.
Helioscreen external sunscreens are available with a number of different size and
profile head boxes. They can be supplied with either stainless steel wire guides or
aluminium tracks, and powdercoated to suit your requirements. Maximum size depends on
the fabric chosen, but it is generally up to 3.8 metres in width and 3.5 metres in drop.
Helioscreen and Somfy, as industry-leading partners, can tailor the perfect solution
to meet design requirements. Whether it is to surpass energy efficiency regulations,
create a dynamic facade or add that unique touch, an automated Helioscreen sun control
system powered by Somfy is the ideal solution. Helioscreen Australia offers a three-year
warranty for all hardware and fabrics, while Somfy provides a five-year warranty for
all motors and automation systems.
