Architectural Terrazzite the terrazzo flooring alternative from Nuplex Construction Products
Nuplex Architectural Terrazzite flooring is a practical solution for
shopping centre mall floors. Terrazzite can be applied over new or old concrete,
existing terrazzo or sound tile surfaces. As Architectural Terrazzite is only 8mm
thick it does not impede greatly on the height differences that may exist at tenancy lines.
Nuplex Architectural Terrazzite is a polished synthetic terrazzo type flooring system
made up of marble aggregates and synthetic resin. The floor system is applied on sight
by Nuplex approved applicators.
Unlike terrazzo and tiles, Terrazzite is a seamless flooring system with no grout lines
to accumulate dirt and detract from the appearance of the floor. This terrazzo
alterative creates an upmarket feel to any flooring situation. Flooring designs can
be freeform with colours, logos and special "feature inserts" such as brass, glass
and shells that can harmoniously be incorporated into the flooring to create themed
shopping centre floors.
A recent refurbishment undertaken with Architectural Terrazzite flooring using a
totally freeform design was completed at The Oasis Shopping Centre on the Gold Coast.
The project required the laying of a freeform Terrazzite floor over existing tile
flooring, using a five colour freeform design that was replicated on three levels.
This floor which was done at night had some night trading with a major food tenancy,
several bars and restaurants open for business, which meant night traffic had to be
accommodated in some areas during the application.
All work on the Oasis Shopping Centre (approx 4,000m² of flooring) was carried out
by Nationwide Flooring; specialists in Terrazzite (terrazzo) flooring systems.
