Geosynthetic Clay Liners by AAA Metal Suppliers
AAA Metal Suppliers has introduced the Yuan Da range of Geosynthetic
Clay Liners to Australia. These GCLs are manufactured using natural sodium bentonite
needle punched between high quality woven and non woven geotextiles. Fine American
needles randomly needle-punch the fibres from the non-woven polyester fabric through
the bentonite clay to the woven polypropylene fabric beneath. This process results
in an even waterproof layer and a strong mechanical bond between the fabrics. Yuan
Da GCL can be manufactured in grades from 3700g/m² to 5500g/m².

Yuan Da's range includes a PE Bonded Geosynthetic Clay Liner. This PE bonded GCL is
manufactured by laminating a flexible polyethylene liner to a GCL. Its coefficent of
permeability, k=4.5 x 10-12m/sec, is comparable with plastic liners. PE bonded GCLs
are recommended:
- For pond and dam applications exposed to high hydraulic heads;
- Where a GCL is exposed to wetting and drying cycles; and
- Where a GCL is placed against saline soils.
