Bi fold doors by Fairview Windows

The introduction of the bi fold door system to the architectural
window and door market is well documented, and the inability to offer one is
essentially a system short coming.
Bi fold doors offer the architect and designer tremendous flexibility, and whether
the units are to create uninterrupted views of beautiful Australian vistas, provide
indoor-outdoor flows, or permit the movement of people through openings that
tradition sliding or hinged doors could restrict, the bi-fold door is in its element.
Aluminium Systems Ltd Evolution range of Bi folds are available to the architect
and designer in both a top hung and a bottom rolling configuration.
The top hung bi fold is ideal where the structure has been designed to accommodate
the weight of the units, or in a refit, a suitable lintel is to be or can be installed.
In projects where these options are not available, a bottom rolling system comes into
its own. The major benefit of the bottom rolling system is the weight of the doors is
carried at the sill and the top guide serves purely to guide the doors at the head.
This negates the need for engineered lintels capable of carrying the weight of the
doors, and can also be viewed as a financial benefit. The Evolution bottom rolling bi
fold option also permits the designer the freedom to accommodate late design changes,
without major structural impact.
The Aluminium System Evolution Bi fold is now available in a "Curved in Plan" design.
This allows the curved aesthetic of the façade not to be interrupted by the inclusion
of flat faceted joinery. The curving has absolutely no effect on the performance either
functional or environmental of the units and does give the building a certain "wow"
factor.
