B & D Flex - A-Roller Door Suits a Tight Fit

In a development of major significance to home and business owners, an Australian company has created a newly designed garage door that overcomes the challenge of providing style and strength in situations where headroom is at a premium.

The new B&D Flex-A-Door is suited to applications where a low ceiling or other obstructions have reduced the available headroom.

"We have designed the Flex-A-Door as a solution for people who want to replace their old style tilting door, or who do not have the necessary space to fit a Roll-A-Door," said B&D Doors national product manager Amanda Old.

Unlike the company's classic Roll-A-Door, B&D Doors' Flex-A-Door moves from vertical into horizontal tracks, and requires only 90mm in headroom clearance.

"The Flex-A-Door successfully overcomes height issues - especially in apartment complexes, or in houses on piers, where garages have minimal headroom," Ms Old said.

The Flex-A-Door is available in a large selection of Colorbond steel colours.

Its convenience can be enhanced by fitting an automatic sectional door opener.

The easy-to-use Flex-A-Door comprises a Roll-A-Door curtain fitted on a curving track and features enclosed extension springs, above head height - well out of children's reach.

Unlike the traditional tilt door, the Flex-A-Door can be left open at any height, which means it can be partially opened for ventilation while still providing privacy in the garage.

A stylish and functional retractable head infill panel option is available for Flex-A-Door to provide a continuous, smooth look at the top of the door where the curtain curves back onto the horizontal tracks.

Nylon rollers with bearings significantly reduce friction when the door travels through the tracks, making Flex-A-Door easy to operate and the unique Nylofelt running strips ensure low effort, quiet sliding action.

"With safety being a prime consideration in all our doors, the Flex-A-Door is designed with no moving brackets or door supports which could act as finger or arm entrapments," Ms Old said.

Because the Flex-A-Door curtain fits behind the opening and runs on a track, Flex-A-Door won't blow shut, or allow wind to blow through the entry way, as can happen with traditional tilt doors. It also means Flex-A-Door can be fitted to openings with unusual shapes, such as arches.
