An innovative emphasis on energy efficient roof coatings with the push for new technology from Shieldcoat.

Shieldcoat managing director Mark Slater was recently invited to give a discourse at the "Innovations" forum of the NSW branch of the Surface Coatings Associaton of Australia at West Ryde. Amongst other presentations regarding topics such as nano coating technology Mr Slater gave the presentation "Why Heat Reflectant Coatings Really Do Work" to an audience of industry figures, SCAA members and university researchers.

Commenting on the meeting he said "Giving my presentation and hearing the others was very enlightening. A lot more emphasis is being putting on energy efficient coatings which are very different from when we started manufacturing our heat reflectant range. Going back even just a few years ago heat reflectant coatings like our Thermobond HRC were derided as 'nothing but white paint'". He added that despite initial scepticism attitudes were finally beginning to change "Things like green building codes are driving the push for technology such as heat reflectant coatings and renders. Now even roofing system manufacturers are talking about combining these kinds of products with their systems."
