Eco friendly ARS Vertical Planter Systems used on Council House 2 & CityLink

Council House 2 is the new home of the City of Melbourne. The building is
cutting edge technology with one of the design parameters being energy efficiency.
Architectural Rigging Services Pty Ltd installed wire systems for the planters on many
parts of the building. The northern balconies have have full length wire systems with
X-tend mesh infills. Each balcony has its own plantings, creating a green world in a
concrete jungle. The roof top garden also incorporates wires and X-tend mesh to create
a greenscape.
The difficult site access and our ability to swage wires up to 28mm in-house, together
with our experience in stainless fabrication and X-Tend mesh installation made us the
choice of installers for this project. Ronstan International supplied their rigging
components and X-Tend mesh for the project as well as technical support.

Along the inbound and outbound sections of the City Link Freeway to Melbourne airport,
this planter system is kilometres long. Installed to create a green facade on the concrete
walls of the freeway.
Traffic noise is also absorbed by the plant system. Safety was important and traffic
management and weather were key factors in completing the project successfully.

Dock 5 is a residential and retail tower in the Dockland precinct Melbourne.
To provide a planter system of this magnitude is amazing. Covering the wall of a multi
storey car park in a living screen.
Large vertical cables attached to a structural frame supply the support for this massive
mesh screen.
The project was completely done from large elevated work platforms.
