Retractable, folding safety ladders approved by Standards Australia from Jomy 
Whilst vertical ladders are not specifically covered by AS1657 and should be referred to the regulatory authority, Jomy Safety Ladders have approval from Standards Australia Inc. for use of their Jomy and Mini-Jomy retractable, folding ladders after 'risk assessment'. Where applicable, for height reasons, Fall Arrest Cable Systems are fitted for compliance. Cages are the alternative. Either is required above 6.0m, though Workcover (NSW) have stipulated above 3.0m for some years. It appears that this will be the National benchmark once AS 1657 is redrafted and legislated. The benefit of Jomy and Mini-Jomy securely lockable, retractable, folding ladders, as compared to standard ladders, is that standard ladders are required to be blanked off from intrusion at the base. "This is important validation for and growing acceptance of Jomy folding, retractable, security piece ladders by increasingly aware and OH&S observant end users," managing director, Tony Liddle says.
