DesignBuild Australia - International Buying Groups serious about building business

International buyers are set to converge on Melbourne next week when Designbuild Australia is staged at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre 15 -18 June.

Designbuild Australia 2008 is the largest trade-only building materials and equipment show ever held in Melbourne hosting 400+ exhibitors including companies from 15 countries, with 13,500 sq metres showcasing the whole spectrum of materials and services for residential, industrial and commercial building applications.

Export Opportunities on the Menu
In addition to attracting international exhibitors the show attracts a large number of international buyers (429 from 18 countries in 2007) presenting an excellent export opportunity for exhibitors.

This year, expanding the number of individual international visitors, are more than 43 international buyers from 28 companies who are attending the Expo as part of an Austrade sponsored program.

International buyers confirmed as part of the Austrade hosted program are from China, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Taiwan.

The buyers attending include:

  • Residential and commercial developers and construction companies with live projects looking to source Australian products and services.
  • A contingent of leading hardware retailers and distributors looking to add new product lines.
  • A large number are looking to identify green building products and technologies with a particular focus on products that can enhance energy efficiency.

As well as the international buyers program Austrade will host an International Buyers Lounge to provide a meeting place for international buyers and local suppliers and will have on hand representatives who can advise all companies exhibiting on specific market conditions and opportunities.

On Tuesday, Austrade and the Queensland Government will host a 'Meet the Buyers Brunch' networking function with over 80 Australian companies in attendance, representing a broad array of products from aluminium gutters, architectural coating systems, plumbing products, glass, slate, tools, housing kits and green building innovations.

"The exhibition presents a wonderful opportunity for companies to showcase their products to international buyers, develop export contacts and access export advice from Austrade, all in the one place without leaving home," said Exhibition Director, Bill Hare.
