Custom Made Shade Structures from Tension Span Structures
Tension Span Structures Pty Ltd has been creating custom made shade structures for over 30
years. The Marina Mirage Complex located on the Gold Coast is a perfect example of the stunning
impact that tension membrane architecture can have when designed to complement the
surrounding environment.
The central mall area of this complex is partially covered with 20 sail-like custom made shade
structures varying up to 16m in height and encompassing an area of 3,580sq.m. The overall effect
is one of yachts under sail, presenting a changing profile as the viewer passes along the Southport
Spit Broadwater.
These custom made shade structures also provide evenly diffused shade internally without harsh
contrasts in light and shadows. And when the sun sets and the Gold Coast night starts to heat up,
the tension membrane sails are lit from within, enhancing the aesthetic experience.
