For those of you that are unaware, The Roman Empire is a proud supporter of Variety and the work they do for disadvantaged children across the country and indeed, the world.

Two years ago I decided to purchase a vehicle to enter into the 2010 Variety Bash & after searching for the right vehicle, I discovered a very sad and sorry looking Bedford Van and thought that not only would this offer a wealth of comfort for the long journey - it also took me back to my youth and the 70's Panel Van crazy days!! The seed was planted!

Work began in earnest on the 'Magic Bus" for the following 18 months and as a result of the generosity of local business the many hours of work donated from people who shared the passion, the 'Magic Bus' was ready to roll.

In this first outing we were very fortunate to raise close to $15,000.00 toward the Variety Club and this year we are hoping that we can match or even better this achievement. (It should be noted here that at no time are donations used in the building or maintenance of the Van or on the bash itself, this is done entirely from our own funds) all money donated to the Hippies / Car 808 goes directly to Variety itself.

As we were classed as 'rookies' on this, our first bash, no one was more surprised than myself to have been honored on the Final Gala Night with the 2010 overall winners trophy for encompassing the Spirit of the Bash. This year will see us taking on two new bashers - Alan White as 'the Balmy Swami' and Susi Hailes as 'Taylor Trash', while myself 'Mezzmo' and John Evans (JonnyVans) will delight in breaking in these "new rookies!!'

So this is where we hope you come help, we are currently undertaking our donation drive and we are seeking donations of any amount. We are also offering sponsorship for the van for all donations of $500.00 plus - Donations of this value will have your company logo placed on the side of the van in our 'Proudly Sponsored By' scroll for the whole world to see!! This will be on a first in first on basis -

As winners of last years bash, we anticipate a significant amount of coverage and coupled with our re-themed 'Magic Bus' for 2011(which wont be unveiled until the start line) you can be assured of getting your moneys worth!
