Green Roofs becoming more popular!

Green roofs, walls and facades are becoming more common in cities across many countries. A Growing number of Australians are realising the potential of these living systems to improve the quality of their building environment to provide social, visual, environmental and financial benefits.

Green Roofs are being constructed for many reasons such as recreational spaces and architectural features and to add value to property or to achieve specific environmental benefits such as carbon capture and heat island effect reduction.

To gain full benefit from a Green Roof you must add extra insulation. Green Roofs provide very low insulation from the soil and plants, especially when wet. To achieve greater energy efficiency, added insulation is needed. Foamular Extruded Polystyrene is a closed cell board with minimal water absorption and high R-values for thickness. It is placed below the soil but above the concrete roof, creating a continuous thermal barrier and protecting the expensive waterproofing membrane.
