The advantages of timber from the Timber Advisory Centre
With today's emphasis on energy efficient building in mind, Victoria's Timber Advisory Centre has published 'Build in Timber'
which explains why timber framing is one of the most tried and tested building materials around.
The booklet lists many and lesser-known of timber's advantages. It has low toxicity and is safe to use; it is electrically resistant which is
useful in buildings today due the increasing amount of electrical and electronic equipment that is being used, it is strong and lightweight,
having a strength for weight ratio 20 percent higher than structural steel, it can be recycled and it is a net carbon absorber with a high
thermal efficiency rate, making it a highly efficient and environmentally friendly product.
The booklet is free from the Centre.
