Nuplex Construction Products' Terrazzite feature at Rockhampton Fair Shopping Centre
The total refurbishment of the existing tile floor on this AMP Henderson Global Investors
Limited shopping centre was awarded to Nationwide Flooring of Brisbane and project managed by FPD Savills
Project Services, the Centre Managers.
The work called for the installation of the Architectural Terrazzite over the existing tiles. Preparation
included shot blasting, removal of drummy tiles and the installation of a fiberglass bonding laminate.
As the work was conducted out of hours and due to the fast setting nature of Architectural Terrazzite,
there was no loss of trade or inconvenience to the tenant's or the centre's customers.
This 4700 m² Architectural Terrazzite installation was completed in 12 weeks.
The following were reasons given by the specifier for selecting Architectural Terrazzite:
- Nationwide Flooring could guarantee no loss of trade or disruption to the tenants and their customers.
- The contractor could finish the project within the specified time frame.
- The aesthetics of Architectural Terrazzite were preferred over conventional tiles and terrazzo tiles which display grout lines.
- The minimal change of height (8mm max) over the existing floor meant no problems would be created at the entrances to the tenancies.
Minimal demolition meant that any dust could easily be contained.
