Conventional fluorescent lighting vs. LED tube replacements - Litesource

Conventional Lighting
Power = 36watts.
Power for 1 day = 432.00 watt hours.
Power for 1 year = 152 kWh.
Ballast Power = 18watts.
Power for 1 day = 216 watt hours.
Power for 1 year = 76kWh.
Total power for 1 year = 228.03kWh.
Total cost @ $0.18kWh = $41.045.
Total labor for 1 year = 5 minutes.
Total power for 10 years = 2280.3kWh.
Total cost @ $0.18 kWh = $410.405.
Total labor for 10 years = 50 minutes.

Now if you had 2000 Fluorescent Tubes you would use in one year a total of 456,060kWh. If electricity rates stayed at $0.18kWh you would be paying near to $82,090.80 to power these lights for one year. In one year to power 2000 tubes a total of 14,077kg of black coal will need to be burnt.

This will release around 42,231kg of carbon dioxide, 74.60kg of sulphur dioxide and 39.40kg of nitrogen oxides. There is also a factor of 10,000 minutes labor that has to be taken into account.

Ten years you would be looking at figures of 4,560,600kWh and $820,908.00.

The total amount of coal burnt to power these for ten years would be 140,770kg and produce 422,310kg of carbon dioxide, 746.0kg of sulphur dioxide and 394.0kg of nitrogen oxides.

Labor time will be around 100,000 minutes.

LED Tube replacements
Power = 15 watts.
Power for 1 day = 180 watt hours.
No ballast required.
Total Power for 1 year = 65.52 kWh.
Total cost @ $0.18kWh = $11.79.
Total labor time 1 year = 15 min.
Total Power for 10 years = 655.20kWh.
Total cost @ $0.18kWh = $117.936.
Total labor time = 15min.

Now if you had 2000 LED Tubes the amount of power you would use would be 131,040kWh and would cost you $23,587.00. This equates to the burning of around 4,044.05kg of black coal. This would release close to 14,200kg of carbon dioxide, 21.43 kg of sulphur dioxide and 11.32kg of nitrogen oxides.

Total labor for this amount of lights would be around 30,000 minutes to disconnect ballasts and replace tubes.

For ten years the figures would be 1,310,400kWh with a cost of $235,872.00. The total amount of coal that would be burnt is close to 40,445.00kg.

This would release 142,330kg of carbon dioxide, 214.45kg of sulphur dioxide and 110.35kg of nitrogen oxides. You will not need to change tubes at all so labor time is still around 30,000 minutes.
