Greenwall Facade with Elmich VGM Modules from KHD

What goes into a Greenwall Installation?

The clubhouse of a residential complex in Singapore has taken the idea of green construction seriously by installing an Elmich Greenwall at the facade, the convex wall on the second level and a freestanding wall in the main entrance.

This ambitious project used Elmich Vertical Greening Modules (VGMs) to create the stunning final result. The VGMs were planted beforehand in a nursery so the plants could get established and become vertically oriented before they were installed.

Elmich VGMs contain an inorganic, soilless greenwall growing media. Once ready, the modules were installed by being anchored on to stainless steel pilasters and bolted to the wall at a height of 15m.

For the residents' car park, the VGMs were bolted to a bespoke metal framework on the fifth floor. This specially engineered framework allows pairs of adjacent VGMs to swing apart and enables easier maintenance to the modules located 15m from ground level.

The feature at the entrance uses a 56 sq. m metal framework to create the living wall. Everything was designed to blend seamlessly in with the existing landscaping and help the building meet its eco-friendly objectives.
