Waterproofing a Heritage Cottage using Wolfin’s self-adhesive membrane and Cosmofin, Wolfin’s Budget System.
16 Mandalong Rd, Mosman is a cottage built in the late 1890s/early 1900s. It is classic for the period with wide shady verandahs and detailed timber work. The house has panoramic views over Balmoral Beach and out to the Sydney Heads.
The owners engaged architects, Mellocco and Moore to plan and supervise the extension and renovation – bearing in mind Heritage restrictions. The renovations were carried out by Sydcom Constructions.
The house had an extra wing built onto it containing 3 bedrooms, kitchen bathrooms and a living room.
When planning the waterproofing of the cottage the architects were very mindful of its proximity to the sea as well as the fact that the timber cottage would move in accordance with old and new timber systems.
The new timber roof was waterproofed using Wolfin S self-adhesive membrane as were the new timber box gutters. The concrete roofed garage adjacent to the pool and the planter boxes were waterproofed with Cosmofin, Wolfin’s budget system. |
