Joining the Carbon-Offset Bandwagon - Forbo joins Greenfleet forces with Pearl Jam, Monash University, Centrelink and more!

Marmoleum flooring by Forbo.
What do rock band Pearl Jam, The Brotherhood of St Laurence, Kimberly-Clark, Monash University, Peter Lehmann Wines, Centrelink and the world's leading resilient flooring company Forbo have in common?
They may seem unlikely allies but they share a strong link to the environment.
All have joined the band, excuse the pun, in an endeavour to offset their own carbon emissions!
Pearl Jam, aware the vehicles and energy it uses on tour contribute to global warming, has made donations to several groups that focus on climate change, renewable energy and other environmental causes.
Forbo and the other organisations have also stepped on board the 'carbon offset' tour - by joining Greenfleet, a not-for-profit organisation that plants native trees on behalf of supporters in a bid to reduce the impact of greenhouse gas emissions.
Through its participation in the Greenfleet program, Forbo is taking steps to offset the carbon emissions produced by its fleet of cars and business flights taken by its key executives.
The decision to join Greenfleet is just the latest step Forbo has taken in an ongoing commitment to adopt environmentally responsible practices. Internationally Forbo spends on average 12 per cent of its total investment on measures designed to improve its environmental performance.
Its eco-award winning flooring collections include Marmoleum and Artoleum which are created from renewable raw materials like linseed oil, rosin, wood flour, limestone, pigments and jute.
A cleaner production schedule involves minimum energy consumption and because no heavy metals are involved in its creation the flooring can be recycled during manufacture. Marmoleum and Artoleum can also be safely returned to nature via landfill refuse sites after their long life where they decompose completely without releasing harmful substances or gasses.
Other Forbo products such as Furniture Linoleum and Bulletin Board offer natural choices for furniture surfaces and even wall use.

About Greenfleet
Greenfleet focuses on reducing the impact of vehicles on the environment by planting mixed species native trees on behalf of individual motorists and fleets to offset carbon emissions, and by promoting fuel-efficient technologies and low carbon fuels to reduce emissions at their source.
Convinced that transport is the fastest source of global greenhouse gas emissions, Greenfleet has planted more than two million trees since 1997.
The idea, that a car's greenhouse gas emissions can be absorbed by 17 mixed species of trees, has been confirmed by scientific research which claims planting trees will also tackle environmental concerns like salinity, improving water quality and providing an essential habitat for native species.
