Hills Industries has long been known for the Hills Hoist in
Australia, but today Hills is much more than just the manufacturer of clever
clotheslines. Hills Eco (Solutions for Life) is a business unit of the Hills Home,
Hardware and Eco division.
Hills Eco was established in 2006 with the first product launch being 'Rainwater
Tanks' and related water solution category products. This was achieved through
the acquisition of the Adelaide based company 'Team Poly'.
The Team Poly brand and associated products have been innovatively pioneered since
1990 and are genuinely Australian and essential to life in the rural and urban
markets of Australia. Since Hills Industries acquisition of Team Poly, the business
has achieved expediential growth due to not only the drought conditions that have
prevailed in many rural areas but also the consumer of today embracing environmental
sustainability issues and changing their water saving habits accordingly.
The Hills Water (Water Solutions for Life) brand was launched in 2008. The Hills
Water business is the 'Urban' branded water solution business for Hills Industries,
while the Team Poly business is the 'Rural' branded water solution business for Hills
Industries. Hills Water is the re-badged version of Team Poly targeting the metropolitan
consumers, effectively using the strength of the well-known and trusted Hills brand.
The product range is identical to Team Poly and is marketed strongly using a Hills
Water theme.
Both Team Poly & Hills Water manufacture and distribute a wide range of polyethylene
water tanks throughout Australia, from 50 to 50,000L and in 14 colours.
At Team Poly / Hills Water we have a wide range of water solutions available. This
includes large rural tanks, smaller urban tanks, septic tanks, cartage tanks of all
types and functions, live stock troughs and a choice of water tank accessories and
pumps to provide your complete water solutions for life.
To continue adding value and credibility to the Hills Eco portfolio, Hills Industries
acquired a solar hot water product under license during 2006. Work was initiated to
develop the marketing and technical refinement to this brand and product to launch
into the wider Australian market place in April 2007 with Hills Solar (Solar Solutions
for Life).
The primary product offering at launch was the Hills ESTEEM™ Evacuated Tube, Solar Hot
Water System. The brand & product has achieved great success in just over 12 months
with sales doubling and the recruitment of 40 new dealers & key customers in Australia
to optimise distribution and channel marketing plans. New products in solar hot water
and related solar category products are in the innovation funnel for Hills Solar and will
secure a profitable future for Hills Solar as a key part of Hills Eco and Hills Industries.
The Hills Eco business unit will develop further in the years to come exploring new product
segments related to environmental sustainability for consumers.
