Trend Windows & Doors celebrates 40 years servicing the Australian building industry
Trend Windows & Doors Pty Ltd celebrates 40 years this July providing
windows and doors to the building industry. Originally formed in July 1968 by the current
Chairman, Don Summergreene, Trend is still at the original head office site at Girraween
NSW and still manufactures Western Red Cedar windows and doors that the business started
with in 1968, along with Aluminium and uPVC windows and doors.
Since inception forty years ago, Trend Windows & Doors has grown and moved with the
changing times. In 1973 Trend was one of the first companies to start manufacturing basic
aluminium sliding windows. Continued research and development distinguished Trend as also
one of the first window manufacturers to assemble aluminium double hung and awning windows.
Again with innovative R&D, Trend with its patented Ovolo Glazing System was the first window
and door Company to manufacture an individually glazed aluminium window.
Trend expanded its manufacturing operations during the past 40 years to Tamworth, Canberra,
Newcastle, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia and now has 10 factories and 18 showrooms
throughout these regions. During this time various acquisitions including Vincent Windows,
Crestlite and Framex were acquired. Trend itself was acquired by several entities including
James Hardie.
In late 2001, a management buyout led by Chief Executive Officer, Colin Forster and others
acquired Trend and the company was re-branded with the current familiar Brand and Trademark.
Trend has invested heavily in research and development over the past decade to produce some
very innovative products including Quantum Windows. Quantum's range of revolutionary aluminium
windows and doors has set new industry benchmarks, with its modern clean lines and contemporary
design appeal. In 2006 Trend launched the Xtreme Windows & Doors Bushfire Protection range, the
first window system in Australia designed to withstand bushfire temperatures up to 40kW/m2
without failure. This is still the only tested bushfire windows and doors in Australia if not
the world. Testing was done in conjunction with CSIRO Bushfire CRC.
During 2006 Trend launched the Synergy range of uPVC windows and doors becoming the first major
manufacturer to have all the main compositions of windows and doors in its range.
With Synergy's range of windows and doors added to Thermashield Energy Efficient products, Trend
has with the other Brands a vast offer of products that have been tested and approved under Windows
Energy Rating Scheme (WERS). These products offer windows and doors with very low u-Values and
SHGC to produce very energy efficient solutions for today's demanding times. All these products
are NFRC rated and all are approved under AFRC.
Trend also offers very efficient acoustic solutions with SoundMizer. This proposition gives
rW solutions of up to 43 in single and secondary glazing application.
Recently Trend has re-introduced its Crestlite range of commercial products for the building
industry to further the extensive offer of window and door products in the ever changing
building environment.
Trend Windows & Doors today is a privately owned Australian manufacturing company, employing
around 700 people across the country to produce Australia's largest range of window and door
products to give the widest choice available.
So, don't compromise your vision, choose Trend!
