Sand and gravel extraction with Neilsens Concrete

A proposal by The Neilsen Group to extract sand and gravel from their Bald Hills land holdings, for processing and transport out via their existing Brendale plant. Sand and gravel in Queensland is a finite resource. The Bald Hills site is a resource area identified by the State Government.

The Neilsen family established their extraction operations in the local area in 1978. The Neilsen Group of companies is the largest supplier of premixed concrete extractive products in South Eastern Queensland.

79 hectares of land in Bald Hills is owned by Neilsens. 57 hectares of the land will be used for the sand and extraction. 22 hectares of the land will be established as buffer area. A Development Application will be lodged with Brisbane City Council for the proposal in August 2009. Subject to approval, work could commence late in 2010.
