Earlier this year Hume City Council began an initiative to reduce the pool depth at Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre from 1.3 metres to 1 metre. This was primarily to provide more flexibility for pool management to increase usage and programs.
Composite Engineering were happy to step up to this challenge and assist with the design work and material supply. The results, as you can see from the progress pictures, were outstanding.
In only 5 days on site (excluding time to empty and fill the pool) the new floor was installed:
- It is 60-70% more price effective than a movable floor.
- Requires no permanent fixings mounted into the existing structure.
- Downtime was minimised at the facility so the public had access to their favourite swim spot ASAP!
In addition, the floor itself can be removed and the handrails are also removable to allow lap swimming.
Thanks to the team at Hume City Council and our installers we have been able to help create new space for the entire community to enjoy.
