Davco launches f1 express - A rapid set flexible tile adhesive ……. allows grouting four to five hours after tiling. Davco Construction Materials has launched F1 Express - a one part, rapid set, polymer modified, tile adhesive. It can be used on walls and floors for both interior and exterior applications. F1 Express is designed for tiling surfaces subject to movement and vibration such as fibre cement sheeting, plaster board and particular timber substrates such as tongue and groove, particleboard and plywood. The product is also ideal for tiling on concrete including early age concrete, cement renders and screeds, rendered brickwork and lightweight concrete blocks. Launching F1 Express, Davco’s NSW Sales Manager, Robert Luc, said the new product can be used for tiling over cement blocks, Davco liquid applied waterproofing membranes as well as other acrylic membranes. |  | “The big advantage of F1 Express is its rapid set time. This allows grouting four to five hours after tiling and it is ready to accept traffic sooner than normal adhesives. It has excellent adhesion properties and will reduce sound transmission, an important factor in high rise projects. “F1’s versatility means it can be used for applications over existing ceramic tiles, vinyl tiles and metal surfaces. Tested in accordance with AS 4992.1 Transverse Deformation, it is classified as S2 - a highly deformable adhesive system. Put simply that means it is more than capable for fixing tiles to timber. “It is recommended for fixing ceramic tiles, glass mosaics, fully vitrified tiles, porcelain tiles and natural stones with the exception of moisture sensitive stones” said Robert Luc. “The rapid set time feature does not affect its open time and pot life qualities. With an “E” classification in accordance with AS4992 it has 30 minutes open time and a mixed pot life of one hour. It also has excellent coverage with a yield of approximately 7.5m2 of coverage from a 15Kg bag of adhesive” Luc added. The new F1 adhesive is easy to use. Applicators need simply to add the adhesive powder directly to a bucket containing clean water and mix the product until smooth. Approximately 5 to 5.5L of water per bag of adhesive is required, and there is no need to use polymer additives. It can be used in shower recesses with the high polymer content ensuring it has good water resistance. However, it is important that the shower floor incorporates falls, to prevent water ponding on the tiles. Davco’s F1 Express is available in 15Kg polylined bags.
