the attention of the media with a subsequently recently published in the Courier Mail

Prof. Byards main concerns were that although guidelines were in place ensuring optimum
storage of water there was not enough emphasis being put on child safety. The main issue
to address was the access covers / leaf strainers not being robust or adequately secured.

- Supervise your children.
- Ladders and access points should be removed to prevent climbing onto the tank.
- Child safety inserts should be installed.
- He noted some manufacturers provide child proof inserts to be fitted under access covers.
Professor Byard's paper was published in the journal of forensic and legal medicine,
