Architectural Terrazzite commercial flooring by Nuplex Construction Products 
As the first point of entry into New Zealand, it was essential for Auckland Airport Limited to create an arrivals hall with stunning appeal yet durable enough to cope with millions of shoes per year. The large floor area needed to be smooth for wheeled luggage, easy to clean and have high decorative appeal. The solution was a thin resin-based Terrazzo - Architectural Terrazzite was recommended. Unlike most flooring options, Architectural Terrazzite has no joints and has virtually unlimited choices in colours and effects. The product was mixed on site, trowelled directly to the prepared concrete floor to the Architect's design drawing, then diamond ground and polished to expose the visual texture of the aggregate. Special effect to enhance such a large floor area was to incorporate crushed mirror glass in the resin and aggregate mix. The sparkle of reflecting light as the 5,000 visitors per day, walk over the floor is dramatic.
